Above is a hand carved sign for an absolutely Fabulous Seafood Restaurant in Brandford, Ct. It measures 34" X 15" (approx) and is carved from an old reclaimed board so that the lighter wood underneath shows through.
"Calming Ocean" - My new paintings. Four Panels 2' x 4' each panel. Great wall art for a large wall.

I apologize for the over sized photo and the odd hanging site, (done to get a good photo) for this Feng Shui coat rack. This natural edge slab of Walnut shows both heartwood and the sap wood. It features the carved Chinese character for "Love" Which hopefully imbues itself onto the coats and hats hung on this rack, also may that travel with the wearer when they go. The coat rack also features glass door knobs as the hangers. The brass, Glass and walnut work in harmony together creating a warm positive and "homey" aura.

FRAMES!
Over the years I have built many, many frames. I used to just specialize in making different mirror frames.
I hope to one day take all of my portfolio slides and photos and get them digitized so I can post them. I've had them in various craft galleries in NYC, Philly, Hudson, Ny. Rheinbeck...all over.
I built so many ideas. I had many with architectural details, carved, exotic veneers, artsy, whimsical, sandblasted, bells, gongs, inlay, soooo many.

Elvis and the Devil!
This is "Elvis and the Devil" It is hard to see but the devil has a rust like finish with red eyes. Where the inspiration came from I don't know.
I have done many of the "carved face frames", as I call them. I like to do different characters. My favorite was a large frame I had done years ago that was like a totem pole of faces on each side and also across the top and bottom.

Good Luck, Love, Friendship.
This is actually a "fail". It is distressed gold leaf with the Chinese characters of Good Luck, Love, and Friendship carved into it. However I found out after carving it that I can't just string characters together and have it mean something, ...ooops. Most of my other mirrors done in this style just have one character, such as Love or Peace or Good Luck. The idea is that the mirror will bestow that attribute on those who look into the mirror, yet another auspicious and positive Feng Shui inspired piece.
Maybe the mirrors do work as I have been very lucky in Love and in Friendship!

Flag Frame
This is my "Flag Frame". It goes well with early American decor as it has a distressed antique finish.

Tiger Maple and mahogany "keys"
I love Tiger Maple. It shows such a depth of wood grain when finished correctly. Done right it is almost luminescent.
This is a water color on rice parchment done by my Mom which I framed in a light box frame. Set back from the art is a group of lights which illuminate the picture.
I like to "key" the corners of my frames for strength and also by using contrasting but complimenting woods highlight the structural element.
In the background is another painting by my Mom.

Mohagany and Satinwood.
Here is a frame/mirror I built several years ago. It has a solid mahogany inner and outer frame with a veneered Satinwood center panel. Sorry for the poor quality photo.

Corner detail
Here is a bit, (just a slight bit) better image of the Satinwood. It is a golden yellow with darker ray pattern to the grain. I love the golden honey sunrise glow which satinwood gives.
Feng Shui inspired Designs.

LOVE
One of the Feng Shui mirrors from my designs.
This mirror has a distressed gold leaf finish with the Chinese character of Love carved in it and then painted black.
The idea behind this is that the auspicious attribute of "Love" will be reflected on the room, to the person looking into the mirror and will also carry forth in your life.

These are pictures of assorted coat racks I have built. They feature either stone, glass or other unique features to hang your coat on a board of exotic wood. Some also feature a Chinese character which is designed to transfer that sentiment, ( such as Love or Good Luck), to where you hang your coat, also that you should carry that auspicious attribute with you wherever you may roam.
